Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute (AHRI)
Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute (AHRI) at Kazhakuttam– Kovalam By Pass road, about 3km from Thiruvananthapuram Railway Station/ Thampanoor Bus Stand, 2km from Thiruvananthapuram Airport, is a 500 bedded Tertiary care Hospital with an investment of 100 crores. The first phase of the Hospital with all major Departments, has become functional from 1st July 2005.

This hospital block was formally inaugurated by our H’ble Chief Minister Sri. Oommen Chandy on 14th September 2005 in the presence of Dr.M.K.Munneer, Minister for PWD, Sri. M.V.Raghavan, Minister for Ports and other distinguished guests.

Ananthapuri Hospitals & Research Institute has some of the most eminent doctors in the country –highly experienced, skilled and distinguished in their respective fields of expertise. Your healthcare needs are safe in their hands. Complementing them and paving the way for the smooth functioning of the hospital is a team of highly dedicated personnel manning the various departments, thus fulfilling the hospital’s mission of providing service with sincerity and solicitude.

Attached to it there is a College of Nursing which conducts basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme and M. Sc Nursing Programme.

Ananthapuri college of Nursing
Ananthapuri college of Nursing is a division of Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute, Trivandrum. Considering the increasing demand for trained human resources in the area of allied medical services, Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute has decided to start various job oriented courses at Graduate and Post Graduate level. The College of Nursing is a major endeavor in this respect. College of Nursing, Ananthapuri Hospitals & Research Institute is sanctioned by Government of Kerala. The college is started in the year 2007 and is recognized by Indian Nursing Council (No.18-16/3065, 31/8/07), Kerala Nurses & Midwives Council (No.G.353/06/NC 17/10/07), and affiliated to Kerala University (No.Ac.B/2007 31st /10/07)./ and now affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences. This college is started under the able leadership of Prof.C. Chandrakanthi, former President Indian Nursing Council and former Director of Govt. College of Nursing, Thiruvananthapuram.

At present the College is functioning in a new building attached to Ananthapuri Hospital which is centrally located in the city of Thiruvananthapuram and has easy access from the Railway station. The college is committed to the excellence in education and offers the students the advantage of high quality academic programme, distinguished faculty and exceptionally good facilities.

We recognize that the Basic degree course in Nursing should prepare Nurses for first level positions in Hospitals, Community and in Nursing educational settings. Nursing practice encompasses provision of preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative aspects of caring people across their life span in a wide variety of healthcare settings in collaboration with other health care professionals. Ultimately we believe that on completion of B.Sc Nursing course, they should become exemplary citizen by adhering to code of ethics and professional conduct at all times in fulfilling professional, personal and social roles.

Philosphy of College of Nursing
We the faculty of College of Nursing, Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute, Trivandrum, belive that the basic degree course in Nursing is a formal educational preparation based on sound scientific principle and technological advancement to meet the changing health needs of the society.

We belive that Nursing is based on humanistic existentialistic philosophy in which man is of central importance and humanistic care is its aim. We recognize that social responsibility and individual worth are ultimate product of human philosophy. We recognize that the Basic degree course in Nursing should prepare Nurses for first level position in hospital, community and Nursing educational settings.

We realize that knowledge, skills and attitude for caring is the central core of professional Nursing. We belive that Nursing practice encompasses provision of preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative aspects of caring people across their life span in a wide variety of health care settling in collaboration with other health care professionals. We realize that faculty has the responsibility to be the role models and creative learning setting that enables students to acquire inquiry driven self directed learning and foster an attitude of life long caring and concern towards whom they are caring.

We belive that teaching is the Art of Science of structuring content for student learning, establilshing objectives, organizing materials and designing learning activities and evaluating the performance in ways that enables the students to learn.

We also realize the importance of Evidence Based Nursing and our teaching and practice should be based on the best evidence available from the clinical area which is the best laboratory to learn patient care.
